📍 Location and context
The conference, co-organized by France and Costa Rica, was held from June 9 to 13, 2025 in the city of Nice, under the aegis of the UN, to accelerate the implementation of SDG 14 concerning the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans.
🧭 Objectives
The main objective of UNOC3 was to "accelerate action and mobilize all stakeholders to preserve the oceans", notably through the adoption of the "Nice Ocean Action Plan", a political declaration supported by voluntary commitments.
🌊 Major themes
The debates focused on the creation of marine protected areas, the fight against plastic pollution, overfishing, the application of the treaty on biodiversity in the high seas (High Seas Treaty) and the mobilization of financing for marine conservation.

More than 6,000 participants, including government representatives, NGOs, scientists, businesses, indigenous peoples and local communities, gathered to bring forth sustainable and concrete solutions.
